Severin J. Koerner, Ph.D. is a Clinical Lead and Psychological Associate at Ascend Behavioral Health. He specializes in trauma-informed care across PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings, providing individual and group therapy, psychological assessments, and collaborative treatment planning.
Dr. Koerner earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University and has experience working in community mental health, forensic settings, and the VA healthcare system. He developed a 16-week Trauma Recovery Track that integrates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) with Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), reflecting his commitment to evidence-based, client-centered care.
Prior to his clinical career, Dr. Koerner served in the Air National Guard as part of the U.S. Air Force. His professional interests include trauma recovery, resilience, and reducing mental health stigma.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, kayaking, and caring for his six dogs.
